Founded in 1989 as a structural engineering firm, TRC International Inc. (Nashville, Tennessee),
built an excellent reputation with its customer-centric approach. It grew rapidly and diversified
in response to its longstanding customers' need to access various services through a single window.
In late 1990s TRC made an ambitious plan to expand through both internal growth and
strategic acquisitions. It founded TRC Worldwide engineering, Inc. in 1999 as the parent
firm of its to-be-acquired subsidiaries. TRC Worldwide engineering, Inc.
acquired Jenkins and Charland, Inc. and H. Wilden & Associates in 2000, and
Suresh Patel & Associates in 2001.
Though these companies operated in different geographies and market segments they
were bound together by a common commitment to secure customer interest through conscientious
engineering.
To serve its customers better, TRC took advantage of globalization in the engineering industry by developing a strategic relationship with TRC Engineering (India) Private Limited. Since 1999 the two firms have worked together and built a global delivery process to bring value to clients through design innovation and service. To promote synergy between the subsidiaries, TRC management merged all subsidiaries with the parent firm in 2006.
TRC continues to expand through both internal growth and acquisitions. In 2007, it acquired Kracor, Inc., Phoenix, AZ and a 49% stake in ReStl Designers, Inc., Washington, D.C. In April, 2008, it acquired reputed MEP firm KM2 Design Group, P.C, Springfield, IL.
Thanks to these initiatives, TRC made the Engineering News Record's list of Top 500 Design Firms of USA at 497th position in 2006. In the 2008 ranking it moved up to 402nd position.
