The 90,000-square-foot renovation of the L.A. Pittenger Student Center at Ball State University modernized critical infrastructure while reimagining the facility as a dynamic campus hub. The project consolidated key student functions and revitalized gathering spaces to better serve the evolving needs of the university community.

A new clerestory window volume introduced natural light and vertical openness to the primary dining area, transforming it into an energetic, highly utilized student destination. The renovation also reconfigured the Tally Dining area, incorporating a fresh fruit and salad station, live carving station, Starbucks, and Taco Bell to expand dining variety and improve the overall student experience.

The completed renovation successfully balanced infrastructure upgrades with placemaking — creating a refreshed, inviting environment that strengthens student engagement and campus life.
