TRC provided structural engineering design, construction administration, and threshold inspection services for this $26 million, six-story, 200,000-square-foot research and office facility, along with a 90,000-square-foot expansion to the existing parking garage originally designed by TRC in 1994.

The building was engineered to support vibration-sensitive microscope laboratories and high-performance research environments, with floor systems designed for 125 psf live loads. A prominent architectural feature is the 130-foot-tall entry tower with a cupola, creating a strong visual marker for the campus.

Structurally, the facility utilizes reinforced concrete beams with a one-way, mild reinforced concrete slab floor system. Lateral resistance is provided through a combination of cast-in-place concrete shear walls and concrete frame action. Due to subsurface conditions and loading demands, the structure is supported on a deep foundation system consisting of auger-cast concrete piles.
