TRC Worldwide Engineering
TRC provided structural engineering design, contract administration, and inspection services for the 100,000-square-foot Port St. Lucie Civic Center — a cornerstone project supporting the City’s emerging downtown district.
Positioned along a lakeside setting, the facility was developed as a highly flexible community hub shaped by public input. Program elements include a banquet hall with a commercial kitchen, a multi-purpose room, a gymnasium, a fitness center, racquetball courts, meeting rooms, an art gallery, a preschool space, and an indoor café. Outdoor amenities feature a lakefront patio, gazebo seating area, and an interactive entry fountain.
The building was designed as a Department of Education Enhanced Hurricane Protection Area (EHPA) facility, capable of withstanding Category 5 hurricane forces and maintaining emergency operations for up to five days.
Structurally, the facility utilizes tilt-up concrete wall panels supported on shallow foundations with a steel joist and metal deck roof system, providing durability, constructability, and long-span efficiency for large civic gathering spaces.
