The Learning Zone at Spring Hill is a new 12,000 SF state-of-the-art preschool and daycare facility designed by KSA to meet the needs of a rapidly growing young family population. Built around a modern STEAM-driven curriculum for children ages 6 weeks to pre-K, the facility blends educational rigor with imaginative play, curiosity, and hands-on exploration.
TRC served as the Structural Engineer for the single-story wood-framed building, founded on conventional shallow foundations with a slab-on-grade system designed to be soil-supported without structural slab requirements. The building footprint provides approximately 16,000 SF under roof and includes pre-engineered wood trusses to support the roof structure. Structural design provisions also accommodate a steel-framed drop-off canopy, a dumpster enclosure, and covered play areas, all integrated to serve the functional needs of the campus.
With no anticipated elevation changes across the site and no perimeter stem walls required, TRC’s structural solution emphasized simplicity, constructability, and cost efficiency while ensuring long-term performance and safety for an early-childhood environment rooted in discovery and growth.
