Our Lady of Lourdes Hospital - Lafayette, Louisiana

TRC provided structural engineering, mechanical engineering, and structural steel detailing services for this new replacement hospital within the relocated Our Lady of Lourdes campus. The six-level, 378,000 square foot hospital accommodates 192 private patient rooms and all major acute-care clinical services, with flexibility for the addition of a future medical office building. The hospital was designed on a 45-acre greenfield site and supported by a 16,000 square foot Central Energy Plant engineered for expansion. The Emergency Room entrance was elevated from grade to serve as the roof of the energy plant.

The replacement hospital was planned as the centerpiece of a broader campus, which additionally includes a Cancer Center, Heart Hospital, Ambulatory Surgery Center, Convent, Spa/Fitness Center, and an Outpatient Clinic and Medical Office Building. The structural design anticipated future vertical expansion of two additional floors. TRC utilized Early Steel Detailing methods to prepare shop drawings for approximately 3,000 tons of structural steel, beginning at the design development stage with a structural RAM model. In addition, TRC delivered MEP design services, including HVAC building automation and temperature controls, along with plumbing and fire protection systems, to support comprehensive hospital operations.
