E.P.D. Laboratory - Broward County, Florida
TRC Worldwide Engineering, Inc. provided structural engineering design, construction administration and inspection services on this new single story laboratory and office building for the Environmental Protection Department. The project is seeking LEED (Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design) green building certification. Sustainable, green design produces a more efficient, higher-quality workplace environment.
Key Structural Components
- The roof structure has open web steel joists, supported by wide flange steel beams
- Load bearing masonry walls and steel columns support the roof structure
- The foundation has shallow concrete spread footings
- The soaring double height space in the laboratory reveals the exposed structural elements
