H-E-B Grocery Company - Distribution Center - Weslaco, Texas

TRC Worldwide Engineering, Inc. provided structural engineering design and construction administration services on this single story distribution center for H-E-B Grocery Company. The main warehouse is approximately 1000' x 400' and incorporates 90' clear spans adjacent to the loading dock doors. To provide the owner with the maximum number of loading dock doors and increased productivity, a moment frame system was developed along the sides of the building. Deep foundations are common in this part of the country; however JC/TRC worked closely with the soils engineer to support the structure on shallow foundations, providing the contractor the additional flexibility required for the compressed construction schedule. The building includes office area and a mezzanine with an overhead crane system.
